HISTORY:
An ancient star, nearly a billion years old, Lariel was an illustrious member of the council. She was committed to God and the angels as well, taking her responsibilities very seriously. Primarily she worked alongside the stars, maintaining order and peace among her people, and would occasionally visit Heaven or earth depending on what assignments she was given. Subsequent to over a million years exerting herself, Lariel decided to withdraw from her post. On her time off she spent time with her family and friends, often answering questions and giving advice to those who wanted it. However, she was pulled out of retirement to fetch and protect the star, Makaiya.
Apparently Makaiya was a special star. She was a half-breed, a hybrid of a normal everyday star and a shooting star. Nearly all the stars disliked Makaiya do to her peculiarity and mistreated her. Lariel had heard about Makaiya, though she had never met the abnormal star before, and never intended on doing so; after all Lariel had better things to do than to investigate the local gossip. In spite of this the council unexpectedly demanded her and Lariel was required to trek down to earth in order to bring back Makaiya, who had fell from the skies.
Initially, Lariel refused to journey to the now unfamiliar planet; it had been centuries since she had visited. Not to mention her skills were rusty and she had no intention to start working again. Nevertheless the council pleaded, wanting an experienced and well respected star like Lariel to assume the role of Makaiya’s guardian. Evidently, Makaiya had an important purpose in life because the angels requested that she remain safe and taught their way. They had said God had a plan for her.
Reluctantly, Lariel agreed. She traveled to earth where she began her search for Makaiya, not wanting to letdown her people. Although, she noticed earth had changed a lot and she instantly became fascinated by technology; especially the computer, television, cell phones, and cameras. A quick learner, Lariel trained herself to browse the Internet, taking pleasure in communities such as Myspace, and discovered how addicting soap operas could be. She enjoyed going to new cities and encountering new people, being suckered into the rapidly growing fads; such as the Twilight Saga. Though, she still searches for Makaiya, her quest has been slowed down due to the many distractions.
