It’s was dark, the moon was out, and the stars shining bright, laughing at her for such failure. Makaiya was walking in the forest, in her white dress, that flowed around, when she walked, and twirled. It was a creepy night, there were wolves, and those funny birds they called owls. Makaiya jumped when she heard one, she giggled and stared at it, she copied its howl and its movement, she couldn’t quite turn her head around like it but it was quite funny on how she tried. She then nodded her head at the owl, and walked off, and then it began to rain.
Makaiya screamed, and hide under a tree; she couldn’t understand what was falling from the sky. Was the Stars sad, no they couldn’t be they hated her, maybe the angels were sad, and they were crying for her. She was shaking in fear, she tried to walk out of the tree, but she just fell, her dress, and face cover in mud, she even lost her glow, and that wasn’t good, and stars were never sad, but she was. Rain began to pour from the heavens, drenching Eli in icy droplets. She sighed inwardly, wiping the rainwater from her face irritably. The ground beneath her feet began to grow muddy, spattering her boots as she trudged from the cemetery into the surrounding woodlands. Her Cadillac was parked farther ahead, hidden amongst the shrubbery; she wished desperately to escape her unexpected shower. The unpleasant weather seemed to echo her fruitless expedition.
Quickening her pace, Eli shoved her hands into her coat pockets; her fingers stiff with cold. Luckily, the trees increased as she traveled deeper into her surrounds. The majority were bare due to the bitter winter temperatures, however a small amount of pines sheltered her from the brunt of the storm. Pine needles were scattered underfoot, freezing to the earth, and sticking to soles of her shoes. When she returned to the motel, she would without doubt have to clean her garments.
As she ducked under a low hanging branch, the needles tangling themselves in her hair, she stopped in mid-step. On the ground sat a young woman. She looked out of place, her white dress flowing around her elegant form and striking albeit sad blue eyes glancing around; the hunter wondered what she was doing out here. Perhaps she was in need of assistance.
She strained her senses, probing the stranger’s mind-set. All Eli unearthed was a strong sense of sorrow and fear; she was no concern, Eli could not detect one bad bone in her body.
“May I be of assistance?” she asked sincerely. “You are experiencing difficulty, yes?”

She looked up, and saw a woman she was asking her a question,” I would love to have some AssiTANCE!” She said, falling again yelling out a squeak. She sighed, then tried to stand up again, the mud was quite slippery, maybe because she was bare-footed, She held on to the branch to keep herself balance, but she was being a complete idiot, and the branch broke making her fall in the mud again, her whole body was covered in it, she pouted then cried.
“I do not like this gooey muck, no no, this is not going to do” She said, in a childish tone, she then leaned on the tree, and smiled at the woman who was staring at her.

Eli raised an inquiring eyebrow as mud sprayed her boots. The woman before her seemed incapable of maintaining her balance, now coated in grime from top to bottom as she plummeted downward once more; the ground had grown particularly slippery. Sweeping tendrils of sodden hair from her face, the hunter’s curiosity mounted. She wondered what had brought this unfamiliar person to such an isolated area. The middle of the night was dangerous; vagrants and delinquents were aplenty, troublemakers running rampant, and a malicious spirit or bloodthirsty demon would unquestionably not be good company to keep.
Fortunately, the rainfall began to recede, transforming into a faint although glacial drizzle. The clouds became sparse as they traveled across the sky, drifting from in front of the moon; a subtle silver glow sending shafts of dazzling light through the tree branches. Eli glanced upward, discerning the few clusters of stars now twinkling like diamonds strewn amid the heavens.
“Allow me to lend a hand,” she replied, smiling kindly, as she offered her hand. A small piece of her felt sorry for the other woman, she appeared to be naïve and her innocence shown in her face; Eli could practically read her like a book. However, despite her childlike actions, there was something special about her; Eli definitely sensed it. She could query the stranger later on; at the moment they needed to leave this remote location.

Makaiya looked at the woman, she seemed like one of those hunters she was talking about, she was curious on why should be out here, no one stupid enough would go out her, besides her, she chuckled a bit. Then she grabbed the woman’s hand, and stood up. She was so nice to her, some people were nice to, and some were just plain rude, and mean, But she couldn’t hate, in fact she loved them all, they were so interesting, they had lives, but she didn’t she was just a nightlight, and that’s all she would ever be.
She smiled at the woman, “Thank you, you’re so kind” She said, in her sweet voice. Makaiya never felt any emotion beside joy, that’s what all she felt. She never felt rage, or fear. But now she was feeling fear, she smiled big, her heart was very warm, she then began to glow, and laugh, she could feel something instead of something that felt joy all the time, she was happy. She didn’t feel like a robot like the angels, they didn’t have emotions, and that was the only sad thing about them.
She then looked at the sky, it revealed the stars, they were still laughing at her failure by twinkling beautifully in the sky, and she looked down, and sighed. She then stopped glowing, and looked back at the woman, and on a fake smile “Hiya, my name is Makaiya, yours?” She said, in a cheery tone, she just loved meeting new people.

“You are welcome. . .,” Eli’s words faltered as the woman before her began to glow. Her whole body appeared to emit a dazzling light, which astounded the hunter. Although she did not fear the girl, she was fascinated by her capability to produce her own luminosity. She simply felt an intense sense of happiness emanating from the stranger, which she believed corresponded pleasantly with her natural radiance. On no account had she read about something similar to her. Eli’s curiosity grew, however she did not want to frighten this perplexing creature away. This was an opportune moment to become acquainted with someone from a species unknown to her.
The woodlands became a lot darker as the light abruptly faded. She could discern sorrow within the individual; Eli wondered what had instigated the sudden change in emotion.
“Hiya, my name is Makaiya, yours?”
Despite the sadness, Makaiya’s voice exuded happiness. Eli felt sympathetic toward the young woman, wishing there was something she could do to help. “My name is Eli,” she replied. Typically she was not keen on disclosing her identity to an unfamiliar person, however she noticed it was easy to talk to her.
“If you do not mind me asking, may I inquire as to why you are here of all places?” The night was dangerous. Makaiya looked too fragile and naïve to be wandering the isolated depths of the forest by her self.

She was so delighted to know the woman’s name, but she seemed so odd, like she knew her, or knew what she was. She smiled, and giggled. “Nice to meet you Eli” She said in a cheerful tone, still glowing very bright, and then she stopped when she heard the shuffling of the bushes, and out came a deer. It was gorgeous, Makaiya smiled at it, and laughed, she laughed these creatures they called animals, but they had different names, likes Horses, and Deer’s, and maybe the birds called Owls, she then turned her attention to Eli who was staring at her with curiosity. She canted her head and wondered why she stared at her like that; she was quite lost physically and mentally.
She smiled a bit, and heard her ask, “If you do not mind me asking, may I inquire as to why you are here of all places?” She snapped out of her cheery phase, and stared at her, and gave her a sad and lost look. She was lost, and sacred no one wanted her, so she was here by herself, sobbing and crying. Why would Eli ask her this? Was she worried about her, because she seen many people get worried, she didn’t understand. “ I am…lost” He glow went out, and the shine in her eyes went out as well, she was now sad, and upset, she wanted to go home, but she never get acceptance…Never. The hunter nodded in acknowledgment, Makaiya’s cheerfulness appearing to affect Eli’s stoic nature. However, her smile faltered as the undergrowth quivered, drawing her undivided attention. Her muscles grew taut as she poised herself, flexing her fingers instinctively—ready to withdraw the knife in her coat pocket—, her ears straining in order to perceive any and all sounds; she could not detect anything of the supernatural or bearing immoral intent.
A deer elegantly bounded from the foliage, eyes connecting with her own for a fraction of a second. Her heart even now pounded relentlessly against her ribcage, her face flushed with embarrassment; on occasion she was incredibly foolish. Makaiya’s laughter filled the air, causing Eli to gradually unwind. Gathering her self-control, Eli sighed inwardly, allowing her body to loosen up.
She blinked, pursing her lips. The other woman’s emotions were an utter mess; continuing to shift unexpectedly. While her empathetic abilities had their pros they also had their fair share of cons. Makaiya’s mood swings were giving Eli whiplash, muddling her own frame of mind. Now she sensed a great sadness, Makaiya’s natural glow vanishing; the sorrow touching Eli as well.
“Lost? Is there any way I could assist you?” She was not going to let Makaiya remain here all alone after all.

Judging by this hunter, she wasn’t normal maybe a fallen angel? She looked at her with amazement she must have been an empath. She smiled at her, and then she grabbed her hand. “I need assistance” she said, in a childish tone. Eli was already like a mother to her, she took care of her. She smiled, and walked with Eli to her car. She was wondering what she was going to do. She wondered if she was going to be okay with everything, she then looked at the night starry sky, and sighed then she paid attention to Eli.
