It was an extremely hot mid-morning, and the lack of cloud coverage was not helping at all. In the south the high temperature seemed to be a normal everyday thing, even so not many people dared to stay outside for very long. They all sought shelter from the sweltering heat outside, by staying inside. Preferable a place with a good A/C system running.
Shiloh Summerland was one of the many people hiding out from the sun and heat. Her hideout of choice was a quaint little family run dinner, it wasn't so packed with people and it wasn't quite barren of human presence. Which worked perfectly as she liked to take her time when eating as she usually had the habit of working on a job; mostly research while she grabbed something to eat.
Which was something she was doing at the moment at the table booth she had managed to grab for herself, was littered with papers of all sorts. Printer paper, Newspapers and clippings and even a few sheets of torn out notebook paper. She was bent over the table pouring over the papers again and again. She was circling things, crossing others off, and from time to time jotting things down in a little notebook she had out. While reading she was completely oblivious to everything around her from the noise of others, even to the fact that there was a waitress standing at her table for nearly a minuet.
Shiloh felt someone had been watching her and looked up startled to see the waitress standing there pad and pen in hand ready to take her order. The waitress looked a little annoyed and Shiloh offered her a apologetic smile.
"So wha'ill it be?" she asked with a souther twang in her voice.
"Waffles, with a side of egg and bacon if you don't mind." Shiloh told her not bothering to look at the menu she knew what she wanted. With that the waitress left to go place her order, once the distraction was gone Shiloh returned to her papers. Which she hoped that the lady had not gotten a good look at, as she shuffled a few of them around to obscure what the content of the papers were. She doubted that anyone was trying to poke their nose into her business but she liked to make sure. The thing she had been tracking down was pretty well known down here, as it was pretty much one of the epicenters of alleged sightings of the beast. The very last thing she wanted was would-be reporters following her around trying to get themselves a front page story. As unfortunately around here no one got tired of hearing about the fabled La Chupacabra. Even so far all the proof them seem to have gotten was nothing more than dog carcasses with mange.
Shiloh knew better and wasn't fooled by the 'proof' everyone seemed to have now a days. She was going to go after the real thing once she manage to track down where it seemed to be hunting. So she dived back into the cryptic passages she had managed to scrounge up about the beast.
